Did you know that Madison Healthcare Services has two outreach providers who offer general surgery services at the MHS hospital?
Dr. Eleazar Briones, of the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo and Dr. Kendra Kamlitz, of the Prairie Lakes Health System in Watertown, S.D., can perform many common surgical procedures right here in Madison, saving patients the need to travel out of town.
Some of the many services they provide include, but are not limited to diagnosis and treatment of:
Acid reflux and heartburn: Upper endoscopy EGD
Breast diseases: Breast biopsies, lumpectomy and mastectomy.
Gall bladder disorders: Cholecystectom.
Hernias: Umbilical, inguinal and other abdominal hernias.
Thyroid disease: Thyroid biopsies and thyroidectomy.
Colon and small intestine disorders: Colon resections.
Skin lesions: Biopsy and/or removal.
Gastrointestinal bleeding
Rectal/anal disorders: Hemorrhoidectomy.
Colon cancer screening: Colonoscopy.
Varicose veins: Radiofrequency ablation.
Tubal ligation and vasectomy for permanent birth control.
Appendectomy: Surgical removal of the appendix.
Many of these procedures can be performed same-day, meaning that patients are able to return home the same day of surgery.
If you have any questions about whether or not a certain condition or procedure can be managed by our general surgeons and Madison Healthcare Services, make an appointment with your primary care provider or give the MHS Surgery and Outreach department a call at 320-598-7551.
